A plate from the "Galerie des hommes illustres vivans." Portrait is set in an oval with a border inside an ornamental rectangle with an outside border of leaves. The title is engraved on a tablet below the oval within the rectangle. The words "hommes illustres vivans" appear above the image. Wasington [sic]- Later states of the print corrected the spelling of the General's name.

Illustrations include vignettes of groups of people sitting at the edge of a city (top) and allegorical picture of Justice looking down on medallion portrait of George Washington overlaid on top of eagle (bottom) On verso: Printed: "For value received, the Pennsylvania Railroad hereby..."; signed "[G.C. Sattes Lou], President". Signatures partially cut out. "No. [407]". Signed 'Seth Smith', Treasurer; 'Geo. W. [Dorrance]', President on bottom margin.
